Vintage Teapot Cake with handmade sugar trinkets ~
The teacup, macarons, jam tarts, pearl necklace and flowers are all edible and made from fondant. For the pearl necklace I made individual pearls and strung them up on ‘invisible thread’. The tea cup and saucer were just a practice play one initially that I was wanting to try out for a long time, and when I was asked to do a Vintage teapot cake I thought it would fit perfectly with the design. I threw them in as an extra. I am so happy with the way this turned out – though I had some challenges with the tea pot! It turned out a bit larger and I covered and recovered it a few times as the fondant kept tearing and looked horrible…so had to rip it off, re-touch up the ganache and the try again! It finally worked out. Quite a few lessons learnt.
