I made this cake for a friends daughter’s 5th birthday :)

It was fun to do a colourful rainbow cake. I do have to admit at crying when trying to get the stripes on the cake!! :) My husband was helping me, I used the wax paper transfer system from Jessica Harris’ Craftsy Class & the crisco just was not sticking to the cake! When I saw that it wasn’t going on magically like it did on the craftsy class & I knew I had to deliver the cake in under 2 hours I was in tears! We attempted 3 more times. I really didn’t want to have to use the tylose glue for risk of the colours running on the white cake, but after trying to put them on 4 times I was getting more confident that I could keep it still! So we put a little bit of glue on & tried again. No going back – very scary!! they did slip a little, but fortunately that was at the back of the cake & I was able to clean up most of it! Once the stripes were on the cake & I put the stars & rainbow on it all came together & relief set in!

I’m in no hurry to try these stripes again!! but I do love the effect! :)
