I had the absolute honor of being a part of the Cakenweenie project to celebrate Tim Burton’s birthday (2013). I cannot begin to describe how awesome it was to work along so, so many talented sugar artists! I wanted Large Marge from Pee Wee Herman’s Big Adventure as that is one of my favorite Burton movies.

And since she was Large Marge I went for a large sugar cookie. The tombstone cookie is 3 feet long and is airbrushed with grey food coloring. Marge herself is a royal icing hand piped run out sugar plaque. Her frame is fondant. Her epitaphs are also RI piped dried sugar plaques. I love run out sugar plaques because light can travel through them, hence the glowing version of Large Marge with glow sticks behind her :-).
