I have just enjoyed three days of learning with the very graceful and lovely Debbie Brown. I took her Cute Kittens, Crying Babies and Midnight Fairies class.

Shown here are my very tubby versions of her kittens. I used her pound cake recipe from the book and added marbled chocolate. Lovely cake to carve too.

I couldn’t believe the amount of skills covered – even basic things I already knew, Debbie took my sugarcraft world and turned it upside down, teaching me how to do things even better and with more confidence.

Speed seems to be my biggest challenge; I would be working on one thing, look around and notice the class had already finished and moved on to something else! Yikes. Consequently, my fairies are still currently bald and undressed (and somewhere in Wellington as my friend and I accidently took each other’s cakes home! Ha!!) I’ll post my other cakes once finished.

So thank you Debbie, for teaching me to be a better cake decorator! I can’t wait for your Auckland return! Nina xoxo
