A mermaid cake for my beautiful daughter Katy’s 8th birthday. She designed the whole thing. I am afraid I fell a bit short. Apparently I was supposed to have jelly fish suspended in mid air around the mermaid. Love that kid! She can design as many cakes as she wants! Chocolate mud cake with chocolate ganache frosting. Fondant. The mermaid is gum paste and fondant.

Yes, the mermaids on the sides were hand painted. I am kicking myself for not getting better photos. I was running the party too, so of course I didn’t take the time to photograph.
