This cake was for my sister-ln-law’s mother’s 90th birthday. Her favorite color is red so my sister-in-law and I decided on a red hat cake. Her mother loved it! The hat was a 6 inch chocolate cake covered in red fondant, decorated with red royal icing flowers and feathers. The band around the hat and the bow were grosgrain ribbon. The brim was a 10 inch cake circle also covered in red fondant. The cake was a 12×18 sheet frosted in butter cream. The red swirlies were made out of Wilton’s sugar sheets with a Wilton punch out.
