This cake was made for my brother in law’s girlfriends Birthday. The drove all the way up from south Texas to spend it with us! It is a yellow cake with chocolate buttercream and mini chocolate chip filling, covered in Vanilla fondant.
So up until this cake I have never really had a cake ‘disaster’. The original design for this cake included a vintage floral cake topper with a colorful pearl center. I had been working on it for three days and had just set it up for the final drying stage before I steamed it when it was knocked off of my work table. It broke into what I though was a thousand pieces (in reality it was probably only 5 or 6) After an hour of trying to glue it back together with my gum paste glue I finally gave up. Normally this wouldn’t have been an issue (I normally make my toppers a week in advance just in case something like this happens) but it was the night prior to the cake needing to be finished! Luckily there is a cake supply store about 30 minutes from my house full of wonderful Baker’s and they carry completed gum paste flowers so they saved my life! I ended up having to draw up a completely new design (since the original included colors that were shown in the first topper) but she loved it anyways! Thank you Cake Carousel!!!! This is the first cake I have ever made that I didn’t make 100% of the décor, and although I am so grateful that they were able to help me I will ensure from now on that I always have my toppers done days in advance so that I don’t ever have this problem again!

It looks very pretty. I can only imagine how you felt when the topper fell.
Beautiful ;)

Thank you! It was horrible! I felt miserable when it broke. But was so glad they carried flowers!
Thank you! :)
