In February we were honored with the opportunity to submit photos to Cake Central Magazine for consideration of their June Issue. Our theme was Beatrix Potter’s Tale of Tom the Kitten. This was an opportunity we could not pass up so we rolled up our sleeves, pulled back our hair and went to work.

We decided to create a full spread to include a cake, cookies, cupcakes, and cake pops. The plan for the cake was a hand painted garden theme complete with the iconic stone wall and picket fence, characters from the story and a cake topper scene from the book. The cupcake toppers would feature elements from the story and the cookies and cake pops would be a baby shower theme to tie everything together.

Alas, life throws monkey wrenches in our plans . . . the deadline for our submission coincided with other deadlines, business trips and vacations plans. But we are not ones to give up. It came down to the wire and we pulled it off. For the past few months we sat back holding our breath, wondering if we had made the cut. The answer to that question . . . 3 pages featuring our cake, cookies AND cupcakes! We couldn’t be happier!
