Over 2 1/2 feet tall. The tower was RKT and fondant. This was so much fun to make.

Ty! I added a picture of the stand I made. There was a lady on Cakecentral who gave me this idea with her icecream cone cake (not sure who it was I have so many pages of saved photos now would take me a bit to find her). I attached this PVC pipe to the board with a flange and drilled holes in the pvc pipe to put a small metal dowel through to support the board. Only problem with mine is, I dont have a strong metal dowel so I couldn’t really do a cake but it supported the RKT tower just fine. This support system got tested good transporting up and down the stairs. I hope that helps some if you got more questions just ask and hopefully I can help you.

Jessica, you are a star, youve helped me so much already! Do you think putting just one rod through the pipe will secure the cake board at the top with a cake on it? with it only supporting in a ‘line’ so to speak, im scared of it tipping the other way….does that even make sense? LOL Looking from the bare structure to the finished cake…its amazing you did such a brilliant job! These towers have been done to death but yours is up there with the real good ones :) x

Ty ladies :) Sorry, would of responded sooner but the last 2 days have been really busy. If I could do more support I would. I bet the top of my tower weighed a good 3lbs or more and it had a pretty small metal rod supporting it. It was just a piece of scrap metal we found laying around the shop when we made the stand. We didn’t want to invest a lot into this stand until we knew it would work. I wonder if a rod going through the pipe would work, I didn’t try that and it would make me nervous, I’m not exactly sure how it would support. My metal rod went under the cake plate horizontal through holes we drilled in the PVC pipe to support the base of the plate. Even then it moved a little until I got all the RKT down on top and bottom. I need to make another pipe and find a really sturdy metal rod before I attempt cake like that. Where I live we work with what we can find though. The reason why my tower isn’t completely round is cause my board and that rod wouldn’t work the way I needed it to. I hope that helps some, if you got any more questions I will try and help! Good luck cherry cant wait to see your cake!
