This birthday cake was for a friend of my son’s. I am not too familiar with these dolls because my daughter is only four and she likes Hello Kitty and My Little Pony. It seems I did all right because birthday girl was thrilled and so was her mother. I think it’s too dark. If I have to do it over I will be sure to use lighter, brighter colors.
I cut the cakeboard out myself. It was time consuming but I think it was worth while. I will probably be making custom boards from now on.
The cake was chocolate mud filled with vanilla buttercream. The figure is sugarpaste as well as the coffin. Everything else is fondant.
I’ll be writing a post on this cake on “my blog”: ( http://ellaboratoriodelastartas.blogspot.com.es ) in a few days in case you’d like to see part of the process (most of the pictures I took did not come out nicely).
Thanks for looking

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. The modelling of the head was so difficult. I nearly gave up. She doesn’t look exactly like the doll but at least she is pretty enough. She was supposed to be looking up but the weight of the hair made the head tilt forward and I didn’t want to risk breaking the neck to make her look up again.
Thanks once more,
Laura
