My husband was taking my daughter off to college the weekend of my 50th birthday. (I had cake orders) A friend invited me out for lunch and she and I cut two slices from this cake and sent the rest back to the kitchen. I wanted to make my own birthday cake and I wanted it personal. This was actually taken from the same pattern that I used for a purple butterfly tattoo, on my left shoulder. (I know, weird, right?) Purple, my favorite color, butterflies, meaning rebirth, or hope that we can always change and grow into beautiful, graceful creatures.
I pressed fondant through a clay extruder and laid it over the pattern.

Psalm 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
