my contribution to the “folk art collaboration”- hamsa 555 🤚
Hamsa is a hand-shaped symbol with five outstretched fingers that serves as a magical protection mainly from the evil eye. Hamsa is common in the Middle East and North Africa, and usually hanged mainly in doorways, on the neck, in the car, in the wallet, or in the keychain.
The hamsa usually appears in a symmetrical structure, in which the thumb and little finger are identical and parallel to each other.
Hamsa often incorporates additional symbols against the evil eye, such as eyes, fish. Light blue, and green, which are also considered to protect against the evil eye, are common colors for hamsa.
