Hi my sweet friends, Here is one of the pieces I made for the Japan Cake Collaboration, organized by our dear friend Raquel Garcia.
I made this Lucky Cat or Maneki-Neko. It is purple not only because it is my favorite color, but also because it represents prosperity and opportunity. He is surrounded by beautiful Koi Fish that represents abundance, good fortune, perseverance, strength, and purpose. I think we all ( me included) will need some of that these days. And all of that surrounded by cherry blossom flowers or Sakura representing the time for renewal and optimism.
I made the fish tales using rice paper sails and the cat is made out of modeling paste. The Sakura flowers are made of wafer paper.
