Beer Barrel Cake

I love doing this cake design, whether its a beer barrel, apple barrel or other wood covered design!
Fondant napkin, pretzel and wood planks. Melted sugar and cornsyrup for the ice. This was the first time covering an entire cake with ganache and I really like this technique, will definitely use it a lot more since I am in central Texas and the humidity can easily ruin a good cake!

Beautifully done! A question if you don’t mind, how do you make “ice” from sugar and corn syrup?

Thank you! For the ice I melted 2 cups sugar, 2/3 cup light corn syrup and 3/4 cup water. Mix and boil to 300* then pour onto a covered cookie sheet and let harden. Once hard you can just break it apart. Or it can go into the ice cube molds if you prefer the square cubes.
