Here I present my contribution towards a internationalcakecollaboration titled “A tribute to Srilanka” hosted by Sharon Siriwardena.

My creation is inspired by the “Ves Costume”, which is a common dance costume for most of the Kandyan Dances (Classical dance tradition of Srilanka), consists of a large white loincloth that is wrapped to form a kind of pair of loose trousers. The upper body is slightly covered with a beaded net, constructed of small sea shells and silver beads. It has tiara like head piece with large ear ornaments. I have specifically intended to replicate the essence of this traditional classical Kandyan Dancer’s “Ves Costume” via my cake piece.
