I was asked to make this for a ladies daughters 30th birthday, the birthday girl is very much an outdoors type and loves hiking etc, her boyfriend had organised a secret camping weekend in the Lake District with her friends/family and her mother asked me to design a cake, preferably featuring Roseberry Topping with bluebells in the foreground which is a local hiking/climbing spot.
I made a replica of the hill/mountain for the top half and had planned to paint a Forrest on the bottom which is how the real thing is laid out, but I didn’t think the painting on its own added enough depth so I made 3D trees and shrubbery to go over the top as well as “rocks and boulders”. The birthday girl and all her family were so happy with the cake, I received such lovely messages and photos.
