Jimi Hendrix tribute piece, for the ‘Gone too Soon’ cake collaboration by Sharon Siriwardena 

Description of the piece:
The inspiration behind the piece is Hendrix’s infamous track ‘Purple Haze’ which also happens to be my favorite Hendrix song.
The first tier, depicts his iconic hat, slightly tilted to the right, just like he used to wear it. The second tier was airbrushed to have a purple hazy look, over which I hand painted his face. The third tier, is a representation of the military jacket that he pulled off, better than most people in history. The bottom tier, has a floral design, similar to the colourful shirts Hendrix would often wear. The cake board with the message ‘Excuse me, while I kiss the sky..’ are lyrics that have been borrowed from his track – ‘Purple Haze’ which I’ve also interpreted as, his moving on to heaven.
