Out of all the fallen stars of fame I could have chosen for Gone Too Soon A Cake Collective Collaboration run by the lovely Sharon Siriwardena, I decided to work on River Phoenix because whenever I hear “Stand By Me”, the song that shares the same name with the movie, the River of time starts running awry and the memories of him rise from the ashes in my mind.

In my design, I wanted to show River Phoenix’s movie poster for Stand By Me (hand painted in sepia colors), his face slowly waning in our memories and a Phoenix rising from its ashes. I hope you enjoy it ;)
