This is the first cake I’m posting on Cakes Decor after years…

I normally don’t take on 2 orders on the same day, but today happened to be one of those blue moon days…
After my first cake left, I started on my second one – an open book. How complicated could it be, right?
I torted and ganached and was all set to cover my cake, when my husband threw a spanner in the works!
“This is too even for an open book! ", he declared.
He opened a couple of books lying around to demonstrate what an open book curved like….
There went my plans of an afternoon siesta. A flurry of activities began and my neat and even cake began to look disastrous.
4 hours, many prayers and several cups of tea later, this was the final book.
