Birch, berries, sugar pine cones and branches.
Sometimes a cake can take me to a place, or a fond memory. …and as I was working on the birch effect, I remembered this lady from my childhood, who used to create birch bark bitings. She would take a thin layer of bark and fold it up and would bite from her memory; shapes of bees, birds, flowers, etc., they were amazing! …and they were like snowflakes, each and everyone was unique. It’s a dying art now…but I am so grateful to have seen her work and to have had that sweet memory of Angelique Merasty. <3
