StormDancer

StormDancer
StormDancer StormDancer

Well it’s not so much a cake as a piece of sugar art – my entry for my first ever cake competition – Cake International, Birmingham, last weekend. It was as scary as anything entering but with the encouragement of my lovely cakey friends I did and I’m so glad because for StormDancer I received a SILVER award!

StormDancer, inspired by my beautiful daughter who has through the many trials in her life learnt to dance in the rain, was made with a wire armature, a florist paste skeleton and then modelling chocolate, finally dusted with bronze and ‘rained’ on with piping gel. She’s standing in an old cobbled street, face lifted to the sky – because life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about dancing in the rain….
