The Sweet Awareness of Butterfly kids collaboration centers around a heartbreaking illness Epidermolysis bullosa. These kids are called butterfly kids as their skin is so fragile just like a butterfly’s wings. Sugar artists came together to bring awareness to this illness by creating pieces that they felt represented this touching condition. All the pieces were made to honor these kids , as well as their parents.

In my piece the butterfly child is shielded by Mother Earth. It signifies that Mother earth is always watching over and protecting her butterfly kids around the world. Mother earth assures these kids and their parents that they are not alone in this journey.
