My latest is a birthday cake made especially for a well-known local rock band promoter/booking agent here in South Florida, who actually wears a silver 45-rpm record adapter (remember those?!?!!) on a necklace. It’s her signature piece of jewelry — so what better to place on top of her cake? I hand-carved it freehand, and painted it in edible silver to match the color of her necklace charm. The cake itself is vanilla-almond and filled with my vanilla-confetti buttercream. The outside is black fondant, which I glazed with some opalescent glitter to add to the rock n’ roll vibe. Pearlized wings and a simple red heart complete the look!
