About my piece:
Barong is an Indonesian character from Balinese mythology. He is the king of the good spirits, and took the form of an animal as guardian of the forest. He is also considered similar to a Guardian Angel in Western culture. “Barong” is derived from the local term “bahruang” which means “bear”, from a time when villagers still believed in the supernatural protective power of animals. He is still very much a part of Balinese culture and tradition today, portrayed in dances, statues, sacred places and even tourist souvenirs.
