For this collaboration I chose the European Wolf. Since I was a child I felt sorry for the wolfs in the fairy tales and couldn’t believe they are such evil animals. And soon I found out they are not. Fairy tales and the ignorance of people in earlier ages had them to be seen as a highly dangerous and bad animal. A scapegoat!
And still today people are frightened if they hear that the wolfs are back in certain areas of Europe and want to slaughter them. Instead they should be happy about it because it means that these forests are healthy and growing! To me wolfs are beautiful and proud animals. They have all rights to live free and unmolested by mankind in our european woods.
My red wolf is painted on fondant with dilluted gel colors and dusted with petal dusts. The dripping blood is made with Flexique.
My piece symbolizes the blood of all the killed wolfs that has been spilled over hundreds and hundreds of years.
Very powerful and beautiful
