Louisa turned 7 yesterday and I have made all of her birthday cakes. This year she told me that she loved the movies Shrek and Titanic (the latter with parental censoring) and drew me a wonderful pic of a cake featuring both.

I initially focused on the Shrek element but awoke the following morning with the image of Shrek and Fiona flying on the bow of a boat. Due to other commitments I did not have a huge amount of time to do the models and Saracino was a godsend when it came to allowing this to happen.

The cake is a 6" vanilla sponge layered with vanilla bean buttercream and coated with milk chocolate ganache. The boat is carved Rice cereal treats and milk chocolate. Due to the weight of the models and the size I used a 6" drum board under the boat for stability. Despite careful dowel placement, the 2.5 hour car journey and a day in a hot caravan, the weight of those models failed to sink this boat but there was some movement.

The main thing of course was that Louisa was absolutely delighted
