I’ve been entering cakes at the ISF (Indiana State Fair) for what, 14 years now? I’ve only entered wedding cakes the past 4 years, and have been going after that coveted first place ribbon, and even the Best In Show. I’m a non-professional (not my sole income) and so Best In Show is a tall order. Both of my siblings have won it, so it was high time I got it. In honor of Indiana’s Bicentennial, I crafted a 3-tier sycamore tree wedding cake with cascading leaves and fruit from the tree. I was so very thrilled with the outcome, and knew the competition would be tough after I saw the other cakes. But I came out on top … the very top!!!!
