This is the first wedding cake that I’ve made. It is for a friend. They didn’t have a design in mind and asked me to choose. I’ve tried to replicate the bride’s bouquet of dried flowers and non-traditional roses in the same colours as the bouquet. The wedding dress is an ivory satin so I’ve used an ivory fondant (it was too cream so mixed it with white to take the edge off) and then sprayed it with a pearl lustre – my first time spraying a cake. It was also my first attempt at lace – so lots of firsts for me in this cake. The bottom tier is fruit cake and the other two tiers are chocolate fudge cake with chocolate ganache – the groom’s favorite! Hope they like my design.
