This cake was made for a groom, it was carved out of German chocolate cake, covered in chocolate ganache and decorated with fondant, it had the coconut and pecan filling too. The mask is a real mask, I didn’t have the time or patience to try to make my own, I also contacting Lauren Kitchens via email and asked what she used to make her face mask…her assistant replied that she used a real mask ( thank goodness) so I felt good about that, and it made it look even more real. I had some trouble carving it, and the back is a bit lopesided, but Lauren Kitchens helmet tutorial wasn’t available until after the cake was finished so I just googled every helmet tutorial I could find until then) I have the DVD now and will be redeeming myself very soon with a new and improved version.
