Sugar for Autism

Good morning everyone! <3
This is my piece for Sugar Art for Autism, a meaningful and very touching collaboration to raise awareness for Autism and hopefully help in fundraising efforts for programs that support those affected.
I have few friends that have showed me what love means. And that’s what I wanted to represent on this cake.
I imagined a fence to represent us as a society. Even though every piece of wood isn’t the same and is shaped differently they work together and embrace each other to make a fence. Therefore, the fence is to represent unity and acceptation. Our autistic kids need to be accepted and helped to feel they can form and be a part of the fence too.
To me every kid is a world and I wanted the windows to represent each kid’s view and uniqueness on the way the see the world and the unimaginable love they can offer.
The heart represents all those different worlds united in love.
Finally the bow represents the gift these amazing kids are for parents who involuntarily and unknowingly have changed their life and life’s views. I know parents who’s gratefulness has increased not only surpassing the tough moments but also converting them in love, happiness, and compassion. They see their kids as a truly bundle of joy.
Hope you guys like my sincere interpretation of how I look at autism and thanks for looking
Dedicated to my wonderful friend Kathy and Joshua! Love you guys!
Very honored to have worked among so many many wonderful cake artists and have been invited by a very kind friend, Dina!
