My client called me and said her dad was turning 60 and he loves firetrucks. She wanted a sculpted firetruck cake for this birthday and asked me if I could help her out. Sure! I did a little research and told her that I would like to make a 1956 firetruck to represent his birth year and she loved the idea. This is a red velvet cake with a buttercream filling. The truck is elevated with a piece of Styrofoam covered in black foil. The tires are made out of rice crispy treats, and the fenders are gumpaste. I was working on making the light blink on top but the sugar just wasn’t cooperating with me that day so, I had to resort to plan B.
