This was my entry for the Satin Ice Cake and Sugarcraft Fair 2015. It was my version of what the real Florida is and was inspired by a local artist who uses a chainsaw to carve statues out of large tree stumps. The top tier is fondant hand painted using food coloring. The deer and panther tiers were covered in a combination of some fondant and some 50/50 (fondant/modeling chocolate). The deer and panther were hand carved and the antlers were made of 50/50 modeling chocolate. The bottom tree stump tier was covered in 50/50 modeling chocolate and fondant as well. The five palms down the left were made of wafer paper and then air brushed and the bottom right palm was made of gumpaste. The pine cones were made of modeling chocolate and the mushrooms were made of fondant and then the tops were torched to give them a more realistic look. The ground sand was brown sugar. Each tier has had some airbrushing, dusting, and hand painting to add texture and depth.
