We are a group of cake artists and designers who have come together to create cakes celebrating the 70th Birthday of Dolly Parton.
I am always happy when friends invite me to be part of their collaborations, so a big thank you to Gary Silverthorn for giving us this wonderful collaboration to help celebrate Dolly Parton’s 70th birthday this coming Tuesday.
For my piece I chose to do a piece around her song “coat of many colors”. So for my top tier I did a elegant vintage style cotton reel as I wanted it soft and pretty like Dolly with my tape measure signifying her change from 69-70. Then my middle tier is her wonderful coat of many colors which is sewn and filled with lots of love, represented by the love hearts. And to finish the piece off her name written in gold thread (which for me represents her hair) with the gorgeous Tennessee mountain backdrop that ends in a dark denim blue color. For me every element of this cake signifies part of who Dolly is for me, that stunning, strong yet feminine woman who is kind and generous like her music. So happy birthday Dolly and thank you for giving us all part of you for all these years!
Here is a link to our group page and the video so make sure you take a look at all the wonderful pieces.
