This sugar piece was created as a sweet reminder that planet Earth is our biggest present. Respecting all living things is a reflection of our own existence and in order for the future to be what it should, we must take care of our biggest present in the present.

Although this holiday is not very celebrated with the figure of Santa Claus in Costa Rica, I chose to include him as the universal representative of Christmas gift giving. Another important element of this piece is the postcard. During these festivities many people send them, thus giving and receiving through the postal service, demonstrations of love and good wishes.

A personal note:
I’ll never forget the first time I visited Costa Rica… Nature really struck me! Being so close to leaves as tall as me and casually encountering a toucan that was resting on a limb free, bold, and beautiful really changed the way I perceived the world.
