*Hi this is Özge. I studied Architecture in Istanbul & also have a masters degree on Architectural Design. Lately I’m passionate about modelling as it’s a creative edible art which uses some of my architecture skills. My interest in sugarcraft (fondant) began in 2011, I am a self-taught sugar artist, started learning new techniques & styles by attending live and online classes. And still keep reading almost everyday about cake-y stuff. By enrolling to many local and online competitions, and experimenting with different styles and techniques my key skills are improved; sugarpaste decoration, 3D structured and gravity defying cakes. In the last year I got 2nd and 3rd places for my work.
In Turkey, my home country traditional Christmas is celebrated only by some groups (christian folk), but the gift exchange and celebrations/parties are held nation-wide. After research and sketching, picked out 4 traditional architectural styles and modelled each individually on a dummy as a background composition for my santa. I wanted my santa to reflect the traditional/historical ( janissary, wrestler in history we Turks are mostly associated being barbaric and serious ) but fun version of a Turkish man. He is made of fondant with an internal structure. Santa’s Passport; being my 1st collaboration, (thanks a million Heba for including me) gives me joy to share my work and excitement to meet new artists.
