When I was invited to take part in this awesone Rocky Horror Sugar Show collaboration for Cake International at the NEC in Birmingham for a number of reasons 1~ getting to work with such an awesome bunch of talented people 2 ~ Rocky Horror is one of my all time favourite films 3 – C.I ~ need I say more 😀
I opted to make Rocky’s infamous abs and golden shorts from the film and decided to create them from rice krispie treats. I initially carved the basic shape of the abs and tops of the legs. I then defined the shape a bit more before covering in Renshaws flesh coloured sugarpaste mixed with Renshaws modelling paste.I gave my piece 2 thin coats of the sugarpaste mix to even out the little lumps and bumps…I added more definition to the abs and shorts area with my hands before painting the gold shorts using Squires Kitchen Designer metallic lustre in Gold Sparkles mixed with a little vodka. The abs were defined with a dry brush and Rainbow Dust powder colours in chocolate. The whole piece was then coated with a layer of leaf glaze to give the shiny oiled up effect and to add more shimmer to the shorts.
