I made this cake for my gorgeous son Graeme & his beautiful new bride Marianne, for their wedding on 24th October 2015.
The cake consisted of 3 tiers of toffee, lemon & vanilla sponges, enrobed in white chocolate ganache and a sweep of royal icing, for a rustic, stylised bark effect-delicately highlighted with a hint of bronze lustre-which was then set upon a huge chocolate fudge cake ‘tree stump’-complete with a carved heart & the couple’s initials. Autumn leaves, ivy, burnt orange calla lilies,David Austin roses, hypericum berries & rustic roses tumble down the side of the the cake. The fabulous autumn theme ran through the venue with vintage birdcages decorated with russet leaves & burnt orange flowers. The robins hold a special meaning for Marianne,as they ‘fly’ above their sugar birdcage -‘tying the knot’!
