It was my blog’s one year anniversary last month, and I celebrated it by making this cake! I would first like to thank you all for following my blog this past year, and for leaving your beautiful comments to support my work. It’s been a pleasure sharing my creations with my friends, and all the other artists here. I’ll try to keep up the work, despite my limited time, and come up with new more creative ideas over the next year! In the mean time, I’ll keep enjoying your own beautiful cakes, and keep inspired!
Regarding the cake itself, I started working on embroidery patterns using piped royal icing, and this is the final result. At first I thought I would mess it up completely, as it’s tricky to get the right icing consistency – if it is too thick it won’t come out of the piping nozzle, and if it is too liquid it will start running after a while, although it might seem fine in the beginning. To compete the design I just improvised around the embroidery, and I also made some matching biscuits to accompany it. You can see more details in the photos below.
I was quite happy with the overall result as it was the first time I tried this technique. Next time I’ll try to do some more complicated patterns :)
