This cake came to life when my granddaughter said “she wanted all the colors!” Well, how was I going to make a cake with ALL the colors? A crayon box, of course!! It was a blast from start to finish! Not saying it didn’t drive me batty at times, lol Mixing around 80 different colors for each crayon and then the “paper” colors and then hand drawing on each black wavy line detail, the crayons alone took over 30 hours! To make the crayons, I used a jumbo crayon to make a couple molds and to roll the “paper” covering I used my electric pasta machine on a level 6 setting to get them super thin and rolled on the fondant after allowing them to dry for a couple days. To do the exterior and get it as close as possible to the real box of crayons, I must have looked at that crayon box a million times! I carried that thing around for a week, lol Even the little cardboard support dividers of the box interior are gumpaste! I just rolled them out super thin, allowed to dry and then dusted to get the look just right. And then the part that I really loved was the rainbow interior! It was a huge hit and I hope you all like it too! Thank you so much for allowing me to share!
