My first attempt at a novelty cake for my son’s 2nd birthday.
Chocolate sponge, with chocolate frosting filling, vanilla frosting crumb coat finished in fondant icing. 99.9% edible (cocktail stick used to affix wing mirrors)
Some parts made in advance and allowed to dry out.
Made an orthographic drawing (front, plan and side view) layered up cake and cut and sculpted. Joined using chocolate frosting. Crumb coat applied and then allowed to dry before adding fondant icing.
Wheels made from circles of cake covered using same technique.
