“Frog Prince”: Rackham Illustration Cake -8/18/13 – Awhile back I was invited to participate in a Theme for a magazine addressing the work of artist Arthur Rackham (9/19/1867-9/6/1939). I was asked to use his illustrations of “The Frog Prince” to inspire a cake design. There were two Rackham illustrations for this story, and I chose the one of the Princess with the Frog at the well, in the deep dark woods. This cake was started as one lump of ivory fondant tinted various shades and then painted with a uniform sepia wash to match the tones of the original illustration. I was really trying to capture the Princesses snarky smile…“Oh yes, Mr Frog. Whatever you say…”
