One of my favorite cakes & I didn’t support it properly. We didn’t know the bottom collapsed until we got to my nephew’s ceremony. He was such a gentleman about it and my sister in law said it was a good lesson in that you make the best of things when things don’t turn out right. “Funny” thing, my friend had a cake collapse that weekend too. Something was going on in the atmosphere! For some reason, I used straws for support rather than dowels. I did have a big dowel & Skewers through every cake. I think the lemon filling in the bottom contributed along with a windy country road which had my eyes popping as my husband was driving. The knots were on it because my nephew was called the “Knot Guy”. I put step by step photos in the tutorials for the eagle. I must say this was fun to make. My cousin printed the edible images for the badges.
Fabulous design
You must never limit your challenges, instead you must challenge your limits
Thank you!
Too bad about the collapse. It is a wonderful cake. I use large straws all the time and so far so good.
I think I used lots of these strong straws I have & I never should have put the eagle on to deliver it, lots of nevers that day. :) Thanks!
