The Seal of King John

A lovely lemon layer cake with traditional vanilla buttercream for the opening of the new Magna Carta Exhibition at Salisbury Cathedral, May 2015. The Seal of King John was important for Salisbury Cathedral as after 800 years, they are the only ones to have a whole and largely undamaged seal, originally attached to the 1215 Magna Carta.

Under the cake, the board is covered in embossed fondant tiles, according to the tiles that sit under Magna Carta in Salisbury Chapter House.

(The fifth image is a wax copy of the ACTUAL seal, which helped in the modelling and creation of the cake version.)
