For a lover of Tolkien, this red velvet cake featured the classic ‘Desolation of Smaug’ fly-leaf map, personalised to the client with places that were important over his life journey. The notes on the map in Dwarf Runes were as per the original. The dragon Smaug’s eye was added for drama, peering out of the pages. The cake sits on a ‘stone’ floor, as if lying in the underground Dwarf city with the Key to the Mountain (sculpted according to the film) added beside it on a ‘leather’ thong. As this client lives by a coast frequented in the past by pirates, the gold coins were decorated with traditional Skull & Crossbones.
