Here is my contribution to the fabulous Sugar myths and Fairies collaboration put together by the ever so fabulous Amber Adamson.
My piece is about a timid little gargoyle who it too shy to ask his favorite “goyle” out. So he sits on the same tree stump day in and day out, picking new flowers each day just in the hopes that that particular day she might just come along and he will have the courage to ask her out.
My bottom tree trunk tier is the bottom tier of my competition cake from last month and was mas made with a home made custom mold to get the bark effect. Gumpaste flowers are from a class I did with Nickolas Lodge a while back and my gargoyle is styro but could easily be cake and is covered in fondant then texturized to look like concrete. Moss is bread crumbs dies green with chinese noodles, cooked, died, then dried to look like hanging moss. Thank you to Ruth Rickey for that helpful process.
I loved this collab it was full of such great artists and friends, all just wanting to have fun at what we do. I hope you will all pop on over and see all the pieces if you have not done so already. Big hugs, Shags
