This graduation cake is made from the Wilton sports ball pan and a piece of cardboard cut into the doctorate shaped graduation cap. My smart son had to help me make the six-sided top to the hat. The diploma is just rolled up fondant. The tassel was hand cut little strips of fondant. I added the diploma before I decided I needed to pipe in some black butter cream around the bottom of the cap. I didn’t want to risk messing anything up taking off the diploma so I just left in on there, but I wasn’t able to get the black butter cream trim all the way behind the diploma. Live and learn! It was definitely a struggle!
