In Holland we have a tradition to eat “beschuit met muisjes”, when a new baby is born.
For a baby boy we eat blue and white anisseeds with sugar, and for a girl we eat pink and white anisseeds with sugur on rusk.There is only one company who makes them;The Ruijter.
I made a cake heart with a baby in a rose (Rose is also the name of the mother of this baby), laying under a umbrella to protect him from falling anisseeds from a traditionel package from “De Ruijter”.
It was a lot of fun to make this cake but I needed a lot of patience too! To stick all thes little blue and white anisseeds to a stick with melted chocolate.
