I was over the moon to be asked to exhibit in the wedding cakes room this year at Squires Kitchen Exhibition 2015 alongside some designers in the wedding cakes industry that I admire. It was an amazing experience and despite the several hurdles I encountered along the way (moving house before Christmas, the round of illness from the kids to myself coming down with the flu, setting up a working area around the chaos of unpacking boxes) I managed to get three designs completed after lots of late nights.
This design was created because I love texture, I also love the combination of green and gold although the green didn’t turn out exactly as I had hoped! The peonies I made using flower paste from ‘A piece of cake’ in Thame, Oxfordshire. The flower paste can be rolled so thin that its like wafer paper and remains flexible for a while making it easier to put the flowers together. A little bit of my cocoa butter painting on one layer and a mix of alcohol and rose gold lustre for the middle tier.

You must never limit your challenges, instead you must challenge your limits
Thank you all :) I was pleased with the way it turned out in the end especially as when I first started I was still in a fog of flu and not thinking straight.
Calli, I am sure we will meet up at some point soon :) Ax
