My client found the adorable cake by ’It’s a Cake Thing’ by Jhoanee, where she made a baby green dinosaur hatching out of an egg. She wanted the same design but with Buddy from Dinosaur Train instead. Jhoanee was so gracious to respond to my questions & give me some guidance on how to achieve her wonderful design, all the way from Australia to Texas! I love having cake friends all over the world, & thank GOD for the internet! Haha!

She also requested matching cupcakes with dino eggs in a nest. I made the nest out of ‘Chow Mein Noodle Treats’, made exactly like Rice Krispy treats but using chow mein noodles instead. They are SO yummy! I have a huge weakness for a sweet & salty combination, & these are perfectly balanced.

The egg is a big cake, Hot Chocolate cake with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough filling, covered in dark chocolate ganache. Buddy is rice krispy treats covered with dark chocolate ganache & fondant, & airbrushed to achieve the shading. The cake is sitting in a ‘nest’ of a grapevine wreath. The cupcakes are Dark Chocolate.
