I made this elegant little cake for a precious little girl’s birthday. The inspiration was her special birthday dress – those gold elephants are just so cool! My original thought was to try to print the pattern onto wafer and dust them with gold luster. It just did not look right, very flat. So I hand cut all those little elephants from yellow fondant with my trusty exacto, textured them with a basket weave texture mat and painted them with gold luster. I have to say – I’m really happy with how close it is to the dress. It had such a beautiful design, I really wanted to do it justice! The flower is a gumpaste fantasy lotus painted with gold luster and hightlighter, the name plate and back rope are fondant. Thank you for looking! <3 Shannon
